Festival of Children
South Coast Plaza
3333 Bristol Ave
Costa Mesa, CA 92626

Now celebrating its ninth year, CANstruction began as a way to bridge structural art with a real sense of civic responsibility. Utilizing canned goods, local architectural, planning, and design firms split into teams to create incredibly detailed structures made entirely of canned goods. The structures remain on display throughout the month of September at the South Coast Plaza and work to not only create awareness of the importance of food donations, but also to enrich the plaza with some very spectacular eye candy. It's during this time that the viewing public can appreciate the time and effort that goes into each structure that the judges tackle the tough task of determining who should take top honors. The exhibition and judging coincides with the month-long festival of children that happens at South Coast. Most can appreciate art, but when the cause is for something greater than soothing a creative itch, the appreciation resonates deep with everyone.

The weekend can be a great time to break away from the grind and reconnect with the family that sometimes takes an in-week backseat to all the responsibility that comes with earning a paycheck. Considering family, it would be a sin to not include your dog in that quality time. Among Orange County dog parks, one of the newest is located just a short drive away from Downtown Anaheim. The facility itself has doggy drinking fountains, separate small and bigger dog enclosures and plenty of well-maintained landscape for your four-legged family to run free. Use of the facility is free and the addition is a great way for animals lovers to mingle and connect. With the shops, restaurants, and points of interest at the Anaheim Promenade a short walk away, a visit to La Palma dog park is likely long overdue.
