MALIBU (CBSLA) — Rescue crews have located all seven hikers that went missing in a state park Monday afternoon.
Both the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Sheriff's Department were at Malibu Creek State Park, while helicopters canvassed the area for any sign of the missing hikers. At about 6:25 p.m. authorities located all seven hikers five of whom were airlifted to safety. According to LASD, the three hikers were "not badly" hurt and were able to move. The hikers were able to stay in contact with authorities during the ordeal.
The group consisted of three 19-year-old men and four women aged 18-20 years old. According to authorities, the group began their hike at 11 a.m. in Malibu Creek State Park. At about 4 p.m., two hikers became stranded on a cliffside while the rest of the group were stranded deep in the Gorge area.
