The Camden Harbor View Apartments complex was the target of alleged arson in September and residents said Monday that there has been a wave of break-ins, burglaries, and physical assaults.

Frustrated tenants have reached out to both the management and the city, seeking solutions to the escalating security issues. One of the latest tenants to leave the apartments, who wished to remain anonymous, said that there was no longer a feeling of safety within the complex.

The incidents, from damaged cars in the parking garage to assaults, have taken a toll on the residents' sense of security.

"Things have really gone downhill to the point that we don't feel safe here," said Janice Steel, a tenant. "We expressed that to management many, many times."

Long Beach police officers have been responding to the distress calls, but many residents believe that more needs to be done by the management and city authorities to curb the crime. The tenants are making a plea for increased security measures and assistance, warning that they may leave the complex for good if their safety concerns are not addressed.

A statement sent to KCAL News by Julie Keep, Vice President of Camden Marketing said:

In early September, we increased community security and requested additional patrols by the Long Beach Police Department. We continue to work closely with the Long Beach Police Department to address reports of harassment of any of our residents and have stepped up security coverage within the community during peak hours.
