Another Member Of Singing DeBarge Family Arrested For Alleged Drug Possession

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) —  Singer James DeBarge was jailed without bail Friday after being arrested in South Los Angeles on suspicion of drug possession.

The 50-year-old singer, who was a member of the R&B group DeBarge, was arrested about 9:30 p.m. Thursday in the Los Angeles Police Department's Southwest patrol area.

He is being held at the LAPD's 77th Street Station, according to Los Angeles County sheriff's online booking records.

The group is best known for the Grammy-winning "Rhythm of the Night," a 1985 smash that enjoyed radio airplay for years after.

The arrest is the latest in a string of drug-related troubles for DeBarge and his siblings.

HMark DeBarge was arrested in Hollywood on suspicion of drug possession in April 2012. Eldra Patrick DeBarge - who goes by the name El DeBarge - was arrested in Encino on suspicion of drug possession in March 2012, but prosecutors declined to file charges, citing insufficient evidence. El DeBarge was the lead singer on "Rhythm of the Night."

Christopher DeBarge was convicted of drug possession in 2011 and was convicted of drug possession and assault with a deadly weapon the following year, according to published reports.
