Animal Rights Activists Protest Carson's Plan To Trap, Kill Coyotes

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — Animal rights activists will take a 10,000-signature petition to the Carson City Council Wednesday, demanding that the city abandon plans to trap and kill coyotes infesting a mobile home park.

The signatures were gathered by Project Coyote and the Animal Welfare Institute in response to a decision by the City Council to spend $10,000 to trap and kill coyotes.

The petition demands the city "stop the use of taxpayers funds to indiscriminately kill coyotes" and instead "follow the lead of Calabasas and other California communities in adopting coyote co-existence plans," according to a statement.

Several residents at the Carson Harbor Village mobile home park have complained they're being terrorized by coyotes.
