LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Actress Amanda Bynes turned to Twitter Friday to make several statements about her father abusing her and that a "microchip" in her brain made her say it.
The 28-year-old, who has been in the news often in recent years, started tweeting about her appearance in tabloid magazines before posting that her father, Rick, had her abused her.
Bynes continued to tweet about the abuse, stating that her mother, Lynn, was aware of it.
A few hours later, the actress posted the following:
According to TMZ, the tweets were sent after her parents attempted to put her in a mental health facility. The site claims she was fleeing New York City, where several stories have been posted this week about her haphazardly riding a bike through Times Square, walking through Bloomingdale's with one shoe, being suspected of scratching a woman at a nightclub and dancing in a store after attempting to steal.
Bynes was arrested by California Highway Patrol for driving under the influence in September.
In July 2013, she started a fire in a driveway of a Thousand Oaks home. She was placed on psychiatric hold and spent several months in treatment, during which time her mother was granted granted a temporary conservatorship over the actress. She was released in December.
There were a series of misdemeanor counts filed against the actress in 2012. She was charged in two separate hit-and-run incidents on April 10 and Aug. 4 of that year and with two counts of driving on a suspended license by the City Attorney's Office.
Bynes is best known for her roles on Nickelodeon's "All That" and "The Amanda Show" and films such as "Hairspray", "What a Girl Wants", "Easy A", "She's the Man" and "Sydney White".
