Adelanto Man Charged With Killing Girlfriend, Unborn Child
VICTORVILLE (AP) — Prosecutors have charged an Adelanto man in the beating death of his pregnant girlfriend and her fetus.
The San Bernardino County district attorney's office says Willie Davis Hines Jr. was charged Wednesday with murder and murder of a fetus.
The 23-year-old was arrested Monday after he told a mall security guard he was wanted in a murder investigation.
Hines' girlfriend Tatjana Cruz was found beaten unconscious in an Adelanto home Dec. 14. Her 20-week-old fetus was dead when she reached the hospital. Cruz died two days later.
A Facebook page listed under Hines' name featured an apology stating the incident was an accident. Authorities say they followed Hines on Facebook but haven't said if it was that page.
It's not immediately clear when Hines will be arraigned. He remains jailed.
