7-Second Police Pursuit In Hollywood Ends With Crash, Injuring 5
HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The seven-second police pursuit of a suspected drunk driver on Saturday night ended with the suspect crashing into another car in Hollywood, injuring a family of three, then trying to flee, police said.
The pursuit began and ended around 8:50 p.m. in the area of Franklin and Cherokee avenues, the LAPD told City News Service.
The suspect's vehicle took off as soon as police turned on their lights and siren. The crash happened within seconds.
Following the crash, the driver and a passenger tried to run before being caught.
Firefighters had to extricate a woman who was trapped in the backseat of the victims' car, the LAPD said. The woman, a child and a man were taken to a hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.
The suspects were also taken to a hospital after complaining of pain.
Police said they expected to book the driver on charges of felony hit-and-run and DUI.
