5 College Students Arrested After Allegedly Stealing Plants From Alhambra Residents For Frat Party

ALHAMBRA (CBSLA.com) — Several college students were arrested overnight after allegedly stealing plants and lawn ornaments from at least one Alhambra resident to use as decorations at a fraternity party, police said Wednesday.

The crime occurred around 1:15 a.m. in the 300 block of North Almansor Street, according to the Alhambra Police Department.

The plants, some of which were mature and well-established, were recovered and officials arrested five suspects.

Police first mentioned the students were from the University of Southern California but that detail was edited out of their Facebook post.

"Based on what we found it appears that there may have been plants taken from multiple locations," Alhambra PD said.

The students will be charged with grand theft and conspiracy to commit grand theft.

Anyone with information about additional suspects or any residents who discover similar items are missing from their property were asked to contact officials.
