30-Year-Old Woman Arrested After High-Speed Pursuit Through San Fernando Valley

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 30-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after leading police officers on a high-speed chase through the San Fernando Valley that ended when the suspect lunged for a patrol car in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicle.

The woman was identified in police records on Monday as Khianna Reynolds, 30, KCAL9's Dave Lopez reported.

The chase took a number of unusual twists, starting when the suspect stole a pickup from a woman's driveway in a quiet Sherman Oaks neighborhood.

The truck's owner alerted police that her cell phone was in the vehicle, and police were able to track the vehicle using the phone's location.

The chase initially began on the westbound 118 Freeway near the 405 Freeway. The suspect led police to Simi Valley, but eventually returned eastbound.

The chase ended up on the streets of Canoga Park, where a pursuing police vehicle performed a pit maneuver to force the suspect to stop.

The driver got out of the vehicle and appeared to be surrendering, but then tried to get into the driver's side of one of the police vehicles.

Officers were able to tackle her and take her into custody, said Los Angeles Police Sgt. Emerich.

She complained of pain and was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries, Emerich said.

Among the charges she'll face, Lopez reported, is attempted grand theft auto of a police car.
