3-Pointers Lift UC Riverside Past UTSA 82-75

RIVERSIDE (AP) -- Phil Martin and Javon Borum scored 22points apiece Thursday night as UC Riverside defeated UTSA 82-75.

Kareem Nitoto added 19 points for the Highlanders (3-4), who broke a two-game losing streak. Tyquan Brown grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.

Devin Gibson's 21 points led the Roadrunners (4-2), whose three-game winning streak ended. Jeromie Hill had 14 points and a team-best eight rebounds, and Melvin Johnson III scored 13.

The Highlanders lit it up from 3-point range. Nitoto made four and Martin and Borum three each, combining to sink all of their team's 10 3-pointers.

Riverside went 10 of 21 (47.6 percent).

UC Riverside outrebounded UTSA 42-36 but committed 16 turnovers to only nine for the Roadrunners.

The Highlanders led by eight points early, then broke open a tight game in the second half, turning a 40-38 halftime edge into an 11-point lead at 53-42.
