3 Killed, 3 Wounded In Shooting At Westlake House Party

WESTLAKE (CBSLA) – Three people were killed and three others wounded when several gunmen opened fire on a house party in Westlake overnight Wednesday.

According to Los Angeles police, the shooting occurred at around 12:30 a.m. Thursday in the 1600 block of West 2nd Street. At least two gunmen approached a home where a 4th of July party with about 10 people was taking place. There was some kind of dispute before the gunman opened fire and fled in a car.

"We did learn that there was some words exchanged," LAPD Lt. Ryan Rabbett told reporters. "We understand these (the suspects) were not people who were at the party. So there was some type of dispute or words exchanged between the groups, and that's when the shots were fired."

When officers arrived on scene, they found a man and woman, both in their 20s, dead at the scene. Four other people were rushed to a hospital, where another man in his 20s was pronounced dead, police told CBS2.

"Officers arrived, they located multiple victims, at least one of the people that were hit does live at this house," Rabbett said.

The three injured victims were in critical condition. No names have been released.

No arrests have been made and there was no immediate description of the suspects. Neighbors told CBS2 a woman lived at the home with several of her grown sons.

The shooting was likely gang-related, police said. Investigators have obtained security video and are speaking to several witnesses.
