3 Siblings Killed, Mother Injured After Possibly Racing Car Slams Into Them

BLOOMINGTON (CBSLA)  — Three people were killed when a driver slammed into a group of pedestrians in Bloomington Sunday evening.

A 20-year-old man, a 17-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl were killed when a red Dodge Challenger lost control and struck them. The three had been walking home with their 49-year-old mother, who was hospitalized with moderate injuries.

The crash occurred in the 18200 block of Slover Avenue, near the 10 Freeway.

CHP is investigating and looking for evidence and interviewing witnesses, who also reported seeing a dark-colored Chevrolet SUV leaving the scene. The car, which had been driven by 19-year-old Leonardo Bravo of Bloomington, was mangled after slamming into a tree and a brick wall.

Bravo stayed at the scene of the crash and was questioned by police. Police say alcohol or drugs were not a factor in the crash, but are still investigating whether it was the result of a street race.
