2 Women Wanted For Questioning In Check Cashing Scam

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — Los Angeles County Sheriff's detectives sought the public's help Thursday in identifying two women wanted in connection with a check cashing scam.

On Aug, 7 and Aug. 8, the suspects allegedly convinced unsuspecting victims to cash checks on their behalf in return for a small fee.

"A few days after cashing the checks, the victims were notified by their banks that the checks were fraudulent," Det. D. Elmore said. "As a result, the victims were held responsible for reimbursing their banks the full amount of the fraudulent checks."

Anyone having information regarding the identity of the two women should contact the Watch Commander at Carson Station at (310) 830-1123.
