One Dead, One Wounded In San Dimas Park Shooting
SAN DIMAS (CBSLA) — One man was killed and a second wounded in a shooting in the area of a San Dimas park Sunday evening.
The shooting occurred before 6:30 p.m. near the tennis courts at Pioneer Park, in the 200 block of Acacia Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies arrived on scene to find two Hispanic men with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was lying in the street near a parked pickup truck which was hit by gunfire, deputies said. He died at the scene. The second man was rushed to a hospital in unknown condition.
Solomon Moreno, a man claiming to be the uncle of one of the victims, spoke to CBS2 at the scene.
"I was just at a Christmas program, and they made a phone call with some texts that Michael had been shot, so I rushed over here to see what's going on," Moreno said. "I'm here to support the family, my friends, my relatives."
The victims' names were not immediately released. Sheriff's investigators are unsure if the motive for the shooting was gang-related. There was no immediate description of the suspect or suspects.
