LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two men shot Friday evening while out riding bikes near Dodger Stadium are continuing to recover, officials said.
CBS2's Joy Benedict on Saturday spoke to bikers who still believe the area is safe.
The two men were shot in the legs. The suspects who shot them also made off with one of their bikes.
The appeal of the bike trail in the Elysian Valley is clear -- cyclists started arriving just before dawn.
"It can take you far, like to Griffith Park," said Socorro Cambero.
She comes twice a week with her dad. But after two people were attacked here Friday-- she doesn't know what to think.
"It doesn't necessarily surprise me but it does scare me," she said.
Several other bikers expressed surprise about the shooting.
The attack happened just after sunset Friday.
Police say a father -- along with his son-in-law and two other adult family members -- were walking their bikes back home when they were approached by the two men. One pulled out a gun, demanding a bike. Moments later both the father and his son-in-law were shot -- their bike stolen. It's an incident leaving some here questioning how safe they are. It also made some question if they would right after dark.
"There's lots of people on bikes so you don't feel anything would happen cause there's always someone on the trail," said Doris Vera, a walker.
Both men are expected to make a full recovery.
"As safe as it is on a bike path like this, nighttime things tend to get a little weird," said bicyclist David Kim.
"If I would ride at night I would definitely carry mace and definitely have my bike lights," said Lindsay Pritchard.
