2 Killed In Suspected DUI Crash In Westlake District

LOS ANGELES (CBS) — A suspected drunken driver rammed his pickup truck into a cement wall in the Westlake District, killing two of his passengers and injuring a third, police said.

"The story is that they were leaving a bar," said Los Angeles police Sgt. Jeff Siggers of the Central Traffic Division.

David Young Lee, 27, was booked on suspicion of murder in the early morning accident at Wilshire Boulevard and Park View Street, Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. John Sullivan said.

Paramedics rushed Lee, who was suffering from critical injuries, to an area hospital.

Police identified the deceased as Garden Grove residents Ioane Lui Nuumau II, 28, and Ryan Faiga Tauiliili, 24.

A 23-year-old man, also from Garden Grove, suffered only minor injuries and was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Lee, driving eastbound on Wilshire Boulevard at Park View Street, lost control of a white GMC 4X4, according to police. One passenger died inside the truck and another passenger was killed after being ejected from the vehicle.
