2 Dead, 3 Taken To Hospital Following Accident In Huntington Beach

HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA) — Officials with the Huntington Beach Fire Department confirmed two are dead following a major accident. Three others have been taken to local trauma centers in unknown condition, officials said.

According to officials, the call came in just before 9:30 p.m. for a multi-vehicle accident in the 18200 block of Beach Boulevard.

At the scene was a 2007 red Honda Fit with major damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. Both the driver, a 29-year-old man from Chino Hills, and the passenger, a 36-year-old woman from Huntington Beach, were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The other vehicle, a 2012 Volkswagen Passat, sustained major front end damage. The driver, a 25-year-old man from Huntington Beach, is said to be cooperating with the investigation. Police said the driver and two other passengers, a 22-year-old woman from Huntington Beach and an 18-year-old woman from Huntington Beach, sustained moderate injuries.

As of 10 p.m., the southbound lanes of Beach Boulevard were closed from Talbert Avenue to Taylor Drive.

Huntington Beach police are continuing the investigation into the accident. Investigators are seeking out anyone who might have seen the events leading up, and including, the collision. Additionally, they are asking for any video footage from the area of Beach Boulevard, between Cypress Drive and Taylor Drive.
