2 Charged In Connection With Murder Of 25-Year-Old Man In Glendale

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Two men were charged Wednesday in connection with the murder of a 25-year-old man found in front of a Glendale home Saturday, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said.

Laquan Dontae Parker, 24, of Stockton and Brandon Jamal Perkins, 26, of Suisun were each charged with one count each of murder, possession of a firearm by a felon with priors and carrying a loaded stolen firearm.

The victim, Phillip Niles Jr., was found shot to death in front of a residence in the 1600 block of The Midway Street on June 25, prosecutors said. Niles allegedly collapsed on the front lawn after being shot nearby, outside an apartment in the 1700 block of North Verdugo Road, prosecutors added.

An elderly couple said they discovered Niles just before 4 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The couple told police the man was a total stranger.

Police said it was the first murder in Glendale in 2016.

If convicted as charged, Parker and Perkins face a possible maximum sentence of 50 years to life in state prison.
