3 Bodies Found In Torched SUV In Orange
ORANGE (CBSLA.com) — Police were investigating the deaths of three people who were found in a torched SUV in Orange on Monday.
The burning SUV was sitting in a residential driveway on the 500 block of Oakmont Ave. The three bodies were discovered inside once the flames were put down.
A command post was set up as the area was labeled a crime scene by police.
Residents first called 9-1-1 around 2:15 p.m. on Monday to report the blaze, and they say they had never seen the SUV on their block before.
Investigators confirmed that the bodies of two adults, and possibly a teenager, were found inside the burned vehicle. Authorities say that, while the bodies inside the vehicle remains unidentified Monday night, the vehicle was not registered in Orange County.
The vehicle is registered to a car dealership in Ontario.
"Nothing ever has happened like that before in our neighborhood, so we're worried, like why did it happen in our neighborhood," one resident said.
Police were going door-to-door, looking to see if any of the residences may have captured the event on security surveillance.
"These kinds of things just don't happen in the city of Orange, and they definitely don't happen in this neighborhood," OPD Lt. Fred Lopez said. "So it is upsetting to the neighbors here, and we completely understand that, and that's why we're all out here hoping to get this thing resolved quickly."
Authorities say anyone with information should contact the Orange Police Department.
