Tour Of California Cyclists Race From South Pasadena To Santa Clarita

SOUTH PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — Some of the nation's most prestigious professional cyclists raced from South Pasadena to Santa Clarita Monday during the 11th annual Amgen Tour of California.

The second phase of the race began at 12:05 p.m., located at 1017 Mission Street near Meridian Avenue.

Eighteen world-class men's teams traveled along long gradual climbs, including the Angeles Crest Highway and Big Tujunga canyons in the Angeles National Forest.

The race was expected to conclude around 3:46 p.m. in front of the Santa Clarita Public Library.

A finish line festival was held from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., officials said.

On Tuesday, cyclists will race 104.1 miles from Thousand Oaks to Santa Barbara.

The eight-day race will conclude on Sunday in Sacramento.
