News: Fire In North Highlands Home
NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) - A North Highlands family is safe after a fire broke out in their home early Friday morning.
At 2 a.m. a woman was awoken to the sound of the fire alarm beeping a loud popping sound and her dog barking. She raced from room to room to get the rest of the residents out of the home.
Fortunately, the residents were able to get out without being seriously injured. The woman's 5-year-old daughter suffered a minor injury to her chin when she was being lowered from a window.
"She just dropped me out of the window and I hit my chin," the girl said.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire before it could spread to neighboring homes. The Red Cross is now helping the residents as they look for a new place to live.
