On September 10, 2001, people only went to the World Trade Center if they worked there. Tourists would stop by for a minute or two while they were on their way to see the Statue of Liberty.  That's not the case now.

The site itself has become a tourist destination. According to the city's tourism department, about 9 million people come to see it every year.
