One person is dead and another in critical condition following a bad crash on the Bush Turnpike in Grand Prairie early Wednesday morning.

Police say calls came in about 3:00 a.m. saying people were pinned in the wreckage of a brutal crash on the Hwy 161/George Bush Turnpike near Interstate-30.

Police say a pickup truck going westbound I-30 at Hwy-161 left the right shoulder, hit the guardrail, several posts, and then slid into the jersey barrier.

The truck then flipped off of I-30 and landed upside down onto the northbound lanes of the PGBT.

The north-bound lanes of PGBT were quickly closed while police, firefighters and paramedics worked to save the victims, having to pry them from the tangled wreckage.

The Medical Examiner was called to the scene and later declared one victim had died. Another victim was transported to
Methodist Hospital in Dallas in critical condition.

The deceased victim has not yet been identified.

Police do not yet know what exactly caused the crash.

There were no other vehicles involved.
