Seeing Double Lands Richardson School In The Record Books

RICHARDSON (CBSDFW.COM) - There are more than 2,000 students in the J.J. Pearce High School yearbook, and strictly by coincidence, 23 of them can also be found in the 2011 Guinness Book of World Records.

"I can't believe our picture is in it, so everyone in the world sees our picture. That's pretty cool," said 16-year-old student Lindsey McKee.

Lindsey McKee is a member of the multiples. That's short for multiple-birth children. And nowhere on this planet will you find more in one class than in Richardson.

"Everybody thinks twins are so cool, but it's just normal here because every other person is a twin," said Kelly McKee, Lindsey's twin sister.

Pearce's junior class is home to 10 sets of twins and a set of triplets. But only two sets of twins are identical.

Along with the record-setting junior class, there are seven sets of twins in Pearce's freshman and sophomore classes. If that's not enough, consider there are another six sets of twins in the senior class.

All that math may have you seeing double. But all Pearce sees is another record in 2012. The school staff believes they're poised to have the most multiples in an entire school when the next Guinness Book of World Records comes out.

So what happened 16 years ago? And for that matter, why in Richardson?

"Just that one year, something happened," said Luke Bailey, a triplet and junior at Pearce. "We don't really know."

Whatever it was, it landed 23 Richardson students in perhaps the most recognized record book in the entire world. It's an impressive feat if you ask most students at J.J. Pearce. Jordan Richardson, whose last name matches the city he lives in, has a different opinion.

"We really didn't do anything," he said. "We were born."
