FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A random act of kindness is caught on camera in Fort Worth, where a regular customer at a local McDonald's handed out unsolicited $100 bills to workers.

On video it looks like a regular transaction at a McDonald's restaurant, but what is really happening is nothing short of extraordinary.

"Oh my God," a stunned cashier said after a customer hands over the cash, without ordering anything on the menu.

Soon other employees catch on to the incredibly generous act of kindness. The man hands them each a bill and earns one big hug after another.

"You could tell it blessed their day," said Lisa Davila. "They didn't come in there [to work] thinking that was going to happen that day… and that was the best part about it."

The mystery man -- who does not want recognition-- is Davila's boss. She didn't seek us out. But she was willing to share the story behind the video. "There was a young lady at McDonald's, who's a regular there and goes and has coffee, and she happened to be crying and it just broke his heart. So, he went over and he asked her what was going on and she was going through some tough times."

Davila's boss is also going through a tough time. He was recently diagnosed with cancer. "He's at the very beginning. So you know, it's going to be a long road for him."

Perhaps his actions are proof that a long road ahead can also be a path for spreading joy.

When asked what she thought her boss would say after learning the impact his gesture had on the employees, Davila said, He would probably cry. The employees are so incredibly grateful. One called him a living angel."

Davila hopes her boss will inspire others as much as he has already inspired her. "Pay it forward. That's the whole idea behind it."

Before leaving, the video shows the man counting out money. He left enough cash for all 33 employees on staff -- even those who weren't working that day.

The staff now has a thank you card ready should the mystery customer return.
