Fort Worth's Ridglea Theater Back Open

FORT WORTH (AP) - Fort Worth's historic Ridglea Theater has reopened after being closed for more than two years for renovations.

The 62-year-old theater, which has been a movie house and a concert venue during its history, reopened Saturday. The theater, which features large lobby murals, will now be a multipurpose venue for movies, concerts and private events.

Jerry Shults paid an undisclosed amount in late 2010 to save the theater from the wrecking ball. Shults tells the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the outside neon has been redone, the roof is new and the theater is painted as it was in 1950. The balcony isn't yet complete but is back to its full size after having been split in two during the late 1980s to form two upstairs theaters.
