One Of The Minor League's Best Parks

The Frisco RoughRiders is North Texas' Minor League Baseball team and is a member of the Texas League South division that plays its home games at Dr Pepper Ballpark. Designed by David M. Schwarz and HKS Sports and Entertainment, the Dr Pepper Ballpark made its debut for the team in 2003. At its opening, it was recognized as being "the best new ballpark" by baseballparks.com and just five years later, in 2008, was acknowledged as being the "Best Ballpark Improvements" by Baseball Digest. Texans are known for progressive improvements, and in 2009 the park was again recognized as being the "Fifth Best Minor League Ballpark" and "Second Double A" by Baseball America. In 2015 massive improvements were made to the already highly-awarded ballpark and was hailed as being the "Best Ballpark Renovation."

Recent Updates

One visit to the Dr Pepper Ballpark and you will see why it has earned such high praise. In its most recent upgrade 2,500 square feet of LED boards were added along with a larger-than-anything-you've-ever-seen 2,763-square-foot high definition video board creating the largest digital image screen in minor league baseball. Other improvements recently made to the park were a state-of-the-art sound system, modern video control room, the team merchandise store "Riders Outpost" was relocated and expanded, a reposition InTouch Grille location (behind first base) was also upgraded and a new open-air sports bar The Bull Moose was added. The renovations didn't stop with the physical layout of the ballpark. The Frisco RoughRiders ball team introduced new logos, colors and uniforms that were inspired by President Teddy Roosevelt's original "Rough Riders." This rebranding image was awarded Honorable Mention in Ballpark Digest for "Best New Logo/Re-Branding" for the 2015 season.

For The Kids

For little leaguers or young baseball enthusiasts, there are two playgrounds that grace the park. The Primrose School Playground is designed specifically for children age 2 to 5 with plenty of benches around for parental supervision. The Intel McAfee Playground is for children 5 to 12 and is open from 5:30 p.m. to the end of the 7th inning. The playground boasts a three-story red and black tower with a curve tunnel and an open spiral slide. Also, behind the Winstar Diamond Deck are bounce houses.

Once a year, children 9 to 12 can have an opportunity to work with a minor league baseball player and their coaches at the three-day Frisco RoughRiders Baseball Academy, where they learn the fundamentals of hitting, throwing, fielding and base running.
