Best Burgers In North Texas

Big D and Cowtown (Dallas/Fort Worth area) has some of the juiciest, lip-smacking burgers to be found anywhere in the country. Whether you are a carnivore, vegetarian or vegan, there is a burger to commemorate May's National Burger Month.

Plano's best burger joint is Buffalo Bluez. Chef Sean Cahill has something for the carnivore, vegetarian and vegan. Buffalo Bluez' burgers are juicy and stacked high with everything from a fried egg to bacon, avocado, fresh pico, brisket (yes, brisket on top of a burger patty) and every other burger veggie you can think of. The secret menu features a great vegan burger – code word: Rockin' Robin. With great burgers, fries, salads and drinks one should not forget one of Buffalo Bluez' best menu items, their Shiner beer battered onion rings finished with house-blended seasoning. This is a family-friendly restaurant where mom can get a glass of wine, dad a beer, and the kids can play old-school table games, like checkers and Connect 4, until dinner is served.

Uncle Uber's is a "sammich" shop that makes awesome burgers. Bryan and Kathy Crelly originally opened Uncle Uber's as fast casual lunch place. As the neighborhood evolved, Uncle Uber's did as well. They are open every day from 11 a.m. to midnight. They offer single, double and triple patty burgers and you can have the option of adding bacon, cheese, avocado, grilled jalapenos or mushrooms. There is a secret menu, though it's not a secret anymore, that features the Piggly Wiggly: a single burger patty topped with slow-roasted pork, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, and a house made sweet and spicy secret sauce. Vegetarians and vegans will be happy to know that Uncle Uber's offers a Vietnamese-style Veggie BunMe sammich with grilled Crimini mushrooms, avocado, roasted red peppers, cucumber, daikon carrot slaw, cilantro and thinly-sliced jalapeños, as well as the Happy Hippie sammich that is served on hippie bread - or dark nine-grain bread.

This Cowtown restaurant is not playing around. All TPR Burger burgers are double patty but, you can order them single patty and save yourself $0.50. Vegetarians can order a veggie patty, plus they offer gluten free buns. Notable burgers are the Farmhouse Burger comes with strawberry Serrano Moore jam, bacon, fried egg, cheddar cheese, grilled onion, grilled jalapeno, lettuce and tomato. The sweet of the strawberry and the spicy of the Serrano pepper works well together. The Whiskey Burger comes with a homemade whiskey sauce, bacon, fried onion, cheddar jack cheese, chipotle mayo, lettuce and tomato. The sweet potato fries are lightly tossed in cinnamon sugar and served with a marshmallow cream sauce, very reminiscent of dessert, or you can order them with salt instead.

Step back in time to the 1950s and you have found yourself at Dairy-ette. Simple burgers, fries and housemade root beer in frosted mugs, served in a comfortable retro atmosphere are what Dairy-ette offers. Ruby red booths and swivel chairs at the counter, car hop service and a very reasonably priced menu with a friendly staff is what keeps people coming back to this east Dallas eatery since 1956. Where else in Dallas can you get a burger and a cup of coffee for under $5.00? Old-fashioned floats, malts, shakes and ice cream sodas are the treats of yesteryear and Dairy-ette still makes them today to perfection.

This tiny eatery is just northwest of downtown Dallas in near the Design District. Open only five hours, Monday through Saturday, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, Off Site Kitchen offers burgers, grilled sandwiches, sides and drinks. This simple but small establishment has something that you won't find at other Dallas burger places – a "Ten Buck Four Banger." Four hamburger patties each topped with a slice of American cheese stacked on top of each other between a Village Baking Co. bun is not for the faint of heart. If you find yourself feeling a little bit guilty from your indulgence, you could always wash it down with the Bugman's fresh carrot juice.
