Leyland Unhappy With Starters' Short Outings

"When you've got two starters at 100 pitches in the fourth inning back-to-back, that's not good enough," Jim Leyland said Wednesday night after Rick Porcello followed a four-inning start by Max Scherzer with one of his own. "No bullpen can survive that.
"It's got to get better. That's just not acceptable. And I'm not being critical of Scherzer and Porcello -- they're two of our mainstays -- but it's got to get better."
Porcello's outing against Minnesota was complicated by four Detroit errors, three of which made four of the six runs he allowed unearned. Minnesota kept plugging away and finally got an 11-7 win.
