Algebra... Exposed!

Students in Michigan have all been taking Algebra in grade 9 since the state changed its high school graduation requirements.

While algebra is considered a gateway class for college admissions, its difficulty can turn it into a stumbling block for students on the way to high school graduation.

Danica McKellar's Hot X: Algebra Exposed, gives teenagers explanations and illustrations of algebra, along with quizzes and advice about the social life of high school students. McKellar is best known as an actress on "Wonder Years,"and "West Wing," -- but now, with her third book, she has become one of the leading math popularizers for teens.
