#DelaneyMeetTaylor, Dream Come True After Successful Social Media Campaign
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (CBS4) - It's a dream come true for Delaney Clements. The 13-year-old teenager has battled cancer for five years. On Saturday, she got to meet her idol.
The teenager is a big fan of Taylor Swift and for weeks she has been campaigning to meet the pop star. On Saturday afternoon, that dream came true.
Taylor came to Delaney's home in Grand Junction and hung out with the young fan.
They even paused to take a couple of silly selfies. Taylor posed for pictures with Delaney's friends and family and hung out at the home for a while.
Taylor learned of Delaney's desire to meet her with a hashtag that's trending on social media -- #DelaneyMeetTaylor.
Clements underwent a five day treatment of radiation in Denver earlier this month before heading back to her hometown of Grand Junction to begin hospice care.
Despite the grim outlook, Delaney has had a very positive attitude.
"I believe I got cancer because I've heard the saying that God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers, and I honestly believe that I am one of his strongest soldiers, so he chose me," she said in a video posted online.
Clements and some friends also put together a video to Swift's song "Shake It Off" before they met the pop star.
