Good Surveillance Video May Hold Clues About Murder In Five Points
DENVER (CBS4) - The owner of a bagel shop burned out of business in Five Points talked to CBS4 about the fire that killed a man who lived above his shop.
The fire broke out earlier this month at an apartment above Rosenberg's Bagels and Delicatessen located at Welton Street and 26th Avenue. Firefighters found the body of 29-year-old Shane Richardson inside. According to the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner, Richardson was killed by a gunshot wound.
Richardson had lived above the bagel shop for a few months. Josh Pollack owns Rosenberg's Bagels. He told CBS4's Howard Nathan gasoline was found at the crime scene.
"It's a horrible thing that happened," Pollack said. "We've been in almost a haze for these past few weeks."
Pollack said he didn't know Richardson very well but they'd see each other coming and going.
"Just really, really sad and I feel so saddened for his family and friends," he said.
Pollack hopes surveillance video might help solve the murder.
"We're fortunate to have a really good security system that was able to capture some really good images of the people going in and out on the night of the fire," he said.
Pollack's business is on the verge of a comeback. He opened a pop-up business on Sunday. With his ovens unavailable, his bagels will be baked off-site and brought to The Source in Denver's RiNo neighborhood.
"We will be, before we open, having a number of healers and religious people coming through to bless the building and try to get some really positive energy there.," Pollack said of his original location.
No arrests have been made in the case. Police were looking for two missing vehicles that belonged to Richardson, including a 1997 Subaru Impreza with Colorado license plate 859-ZID. The below picture is the wanted vehicle.
Investigators have recovered a 2012 Ducati Motorcycle. The below picture is similar to the motorcycle that was recovered.
