Terrence Blanchard’s “Champion” returns to Lyric Opera of Chicago this season

Grammy Award-Winning Composer Terence Blanchard received rave reviews for his opera " Fire Shut Up in My Bones" when it played at Lyric Opera during its 2021/2022 Season. He also made history with the production by becoming the first Black composer to have their work staged at New York's Metropolitan Opera. Now another Opera of his, "Champion", is playing at the Lyric Opera starting Saturday, January 27th. It's inspired by the true story of boxer Emile Griffith. Visit
