Remembering the extraordinary life of Dolly Parton
Dolly Parton was a singer, a songwriter, an actress, a philanthropist and an American icon. Born in poverty in rural Tennessee, the fourth of 12 children, she began writing music at a young age and got her big break in 1966. In 1973, "Jolene" made her a household name and her star never dimmed. She wrote countless hits and starred in beloved movies, and spent years helping children access books and education.
