Off-duty Chicago firefighter expected to recover after being shot confronting would-be car thieves
An off-duty Chicago firefighter is in serious condition after being shot in the Bronzeville neighborhood Wednesday morning. Fire officials said the firefighter was shot multiple times just before 5:30 a.m. in the 500 block of East 38th Place and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
