How Chicago alders decide how to spend their $1.5M ward budget
While Chicago's mayor works with the Chicago City Council to pass a 2027 budget, each councilmember has money set aside to dedicate to projects in their wards as well. In most cases, constituents can have a say in which projects are selected.
