Chicago City Council votes to phase out subminimum wage for tipped workers

The end is coming for subminimum wages for tipped workers in Chicago. The City Council voted Friday to phase out the system that allows businesses to pay a lower minimum wage to workers who get tips. Tipped workers will now see their pay gradually rise to the full minimum wage over the next five years, with tips on top.
