The uncle of a 14-year-old girl accused of killing a classmate during a fight over a boy has been charged with giving his niece the murder weapon and accompanying her to the fight in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
The two were sitting inside a van in the 1500 block of South Trumbull Avenue at 12:50 a.m. when they heard gunfire and suddenly felt pain, police said.
Four people were shot in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
The suspect -- whose name was not released because of her age -- was due in Juvenile Court on Tuesday, to face one count of first-degree murder. The suspect's 24-year-old uncle and a 17-year-old boy also were in custody.
