Agreement on new labor contract sets the stage for film and TV actors to return to work after months-long production freeze.
The union says they reached a tentative agreement with the major studios just after midnight Thursday.
The strike has lasted nearly four months for the 160,000 actors in the union.
"We are facing an existential threat to what it means to be a working performer," actor Sean Astin said.
The film and TV actors' strike came to Chicago on Friday, as members of the Screen Actors Guild and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) marched at Daley Plaza.
Actors are demanding increased pay better residuals and protections from the likeness being used by artificial intelligence technology.
