An off-duty Cook County sheriff's deputy fatally shot a would-be robber on Wednesday at a South Side salon.
The teenager was standing in an alley with a 20-year-old man about 10:50 p.m. in the 5600 block of South Elizabeth in the West Englewood neighborhood when another male walked up and fired shots.
The men, ages 33 and 39, were inside a vehicle about 2:40 a.m. in the 7100 block of South State when someone in another vehicle opened fire, according to Chicago Police.
The homicide happened about 4:15 p.m. in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side, where someone got out of a silver SUV and shot a 24-year-old man in the chest in the first block of East 113th Place, according to Chicago Police.
Gerald Wright was last seen Feb. 10 in the 500 block of East 75th Street, according to a missing person alert from Chicago Police. At that time, he was wearing a white T-shirt and black jeans.
Three of the deaths came by way of a mass shooting inside a Brighton Park neighborhood home on the Southwest Side.
