A parolee shot and killed by a South Side store owner during an attempted robbery Tuesday evening was a prime suspect in a shooting that wounded a south suburban police last month.
Alberto Gaytan, 42, of the 3000 block of West Ainslie Street, was arrested on first degree murder charges Wednesday night.

About 6:30 p.m. a man in his 20s armed with a handgun tried to rob a cell phone store in the 1700 block of East 87th Street. The store's owner, armed with a handgun himself, shot an killed the would-be robber.
About 4:40 p.m., officers responding to a call of shots fired discovered the 30-year-old with a gunshot wound to his head in the 11200 block of South Ada Street.
One man was killed and another seriously wounded in a shooting in the South Shore neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.
