A young mother was shot and killed Thursday night while sitting in a car in south suburban Dolton, and a man who was in the car with her also was wounded.
The fatal shooting happened at 10:25 p.m. the Brighton Park neighborhood on the Southwest Side. A 17-year-old boy was in the 3100 block of West 41st Place when a white SUV drove by and someone inside fired shots.
Officers saw a vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, drive through a stop sign in the 3200 block of South Claremont Avenue about 10:30 p.m., police said. The officers tried to pull the vehicle over, and a chase ensued.
