Trillions of periodical cicadas are emerging from the ground this spring, bringing with them their loud buzzing and molted exoskeletons. Here's where you will be able to see them.
"Although to some, the noise is annoying, they pose no danger to humans or pets," the sheriff wrote. "Unfortunately, it is the sounds of nature."
Still, Ravinia is capitalizing on the situation with a limited-edition shirt—reading, "Ravinia Interrupta," and calling the cicada buzz the loudest song of summer.
In point of fact, the 17-year periodical cicadas that are coming this year in the Chicago area are expected be gone before gone before opening night. CBS 2's Sara Machi reports.
