A 16-year-old was charged in a carjacking that took place near the Fuller Park Neighborhood.
A man and woman were stopped for a traffic light in the 900 block of South State Street at about 12:11 a.m. when a man exited a dark-colored SUV and fired shots, authorities said. The victims got out of their vehicle a — white Dodge Charger — and the offender got in it and drove away.
Police are warning residents to be on alert following recent carjackings in the South Shore neighborhood.
He was not the only target. The crew who stole Cihak's SUV is believed to be the same who took another SUV at 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon in Albany Park (above). The two carjackings happened within eight minutes of each other.
Preckwinkle said the incident happened in the city of Chicago, so it's a Chicago Police matter, and she didn't want to jeopardize the investigation.
"What really has me upset is that this happened last month, and no one was notified, and no one was told," Cook County Commissioner Sean Morrison said.
