Chicago Bulls center Omer Asik will miss the rest of the team's 2011 playoff run, the team announced on Wednesday.
Tuesday night marked the first time that the Bulls have lost three games in a row all year. It was a "back against the wall" game and the Bulls failed. It wasn't because of a lack of effort or a lack of heart. Miami's talent/size combination has been too much to overcome.
So far this series, the Miami Heat's Big 3 has really been the Big 2. LeBron James and Chris Bosh have had big games all series, but Chicago-native Dwyane Wade has struggled.
Without facing elimination, Game 4 was about as close to a must-win game for the Chicago Bulls as you can get. Trailing 2-1 in the series, the Bulls could either come home tied or facing elimination.
The Bulls led after the first, second and third quarters. They also had a chance to win the game at the end of regulation but just like in the last two games they couldn't come through in the clutch and now face elimination.
At the end of four quarters, the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat found themselves right where they started the game, all tied up.
The NFL is already in the midst of labor negotiations that forced a work stoppage and could potentially threaten the season. On Tuesday, the NBA players' association made a move to help prevent some of that from happening in their league.
Heading into Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals, Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau will be faced with some tough lineup decisions. The Bulls have a roster filled with players either talented offensively or defensively, but few who are both.
The Bulls appeared confident when we spoke to them Tuesday morning in the locker room. They said they think they have solved Miami's suffocating defense, but obviously we won't know that until Tuesday night.
At their most critical point of the season, the Chicago Bulls are faced with some distractions.
