Woman Stabbed To Death On West Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A woman is in custody for allegedly stabbing another woman to death during a domestic dispute in the Austin neighborhood early Friday.

Shounya Burnett, 45, was arguing with another woman about 12:55 a.m. in a first-floor apartment in the 1100 block of North Mayfield Avenue when she was stabbed in the neck and chin with a knife, police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Burnett, of the 4500 block of West Grenshaw Street, was dead at the scene, the medical examiner's office said.

The woman who stabbed her was taken into custody and charges are pending, police said.

Police described the stabbing as a domestic incident.
