Surveillance video captures shooting that injured woman while driving in Little Village

A woman was shot while driving in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood on Monday night. 

Chicago police said the 25-year-old woman was driving in the 2500 block of South Ridgeway Avenue around 9:10 p.m. when a person on foot fired multiple shots. 

Police said the woman was shot in the rear by the gunfire.

Surveillance video captured the moment the gunshots rang out. A resident said the shots left multiple bullet holes in a metal fence inside a parking lot.

That resident, who doesn't want his identity known for fear of retaliation, shared the surveillance video with CBS News Chicago. He said he just got home from the store and his son just got home from work.

"As soon as we were about to get into our house, I hear this bump, bump, bump," he said. "I go like, 'Get down! Get down! Get down to the ground!' I mean, like, I got scared so bad."

Another resident said that as they closed their garage door, the shooting immediately started, leaving about four bullet holes in their garage door. 

The neighbor who shared the video said no matter what, he says he will continue to be alert. 

"You gotta be aware of your surroundings everywhere you go; day or night. No matter what. You just gotta be careful," he said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition.   

As of Tuesday afternoon, no arrests have been made.
