Woman Critically Injured In West Side Fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A woman with severe burns to her body was critically injured early Saturday after a two-story apartment building caught fire in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side.

Firefighters responded to the blaze about 1:05 a.m. in the 1800 block of South Harding Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs. The fire was out by 1:20 a.m.

The woman, whose age was not immediately known, suffered burns to her body and was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, police said.

The Chicago Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
