White Sox Decline Option On Matt Albers, Release Daniel Webb

(CBS) The White Sox have declined the option 2017 option on righty reliever Matt Albers, they announced Thursday. The team will pay him a $250,000 buyout instead, making Albers a free agent.

The 33-year-old Albers had a 6.31 ERA and 1.68 WHIP in 58 appearances in 2016.

In another parting of ways with a pitcher, the White Sox released righty reliever Daniel Webb, who made just one appearance this past season as he experienced forearm tightness in April and then had Tommy John surgery.

The White Sox also reinstated third baseman Matt Davidson and righty reliever Jake Petricka from the 60-day disabled list and optioned outfielder J.B. Shuck to Triple-A Charlotte.
